Buyer question
Is an Apricot good for beginners?
Usually not: our Animal Library rates the Apricot 2 out of 5 for beginners (better with experience).

The detail
Apricot hedgehogs have light orange-tan quill bands, a pink nose and usually ruby eyes. It is a color variety of the African pygmy hedgehog, so an owner gets ordinary hedgehog care and the same health risks.
- Best fit
- Night owls, patient adults
- Handling
- 2 out of 5 (Balls up, needs patience)
- Care load
- 3 out of 5 (Nightly wheel, steady heat)
What to weigh
Hedgehogs are shy, nocturnal and solitary, and handling takes steady daily effort. Color names vary between breeders, so a listed color is a description, not a guarantee.
