Apricot hedgehogs have light orange-tan quill bands, a pink nose and usually ruby eyes. It is a color variety of the African pygmy hedgehog, so an owner gets ordinary hedgehog care and the same health risks.

Common questions
Is apricot the same as cinnamon?
They overlap, and breeders do not always name colors the same way. Look at the quill bands and eye color yourself, and ask for photos of the parents.
What health checks should I ask for?
Ask whether wobbly hedgehog syndrome, a progressive and fatal nerve disease, has appeared in the parents' lines, and for a litter record naming both parents. A vet exam and a check for mites are worth asking for as well.
Are hedgehogs legal where I live?
Not everywhere. California, Hawaii, Georgia, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia prohibit or tightly restrict them, New York City bans them, and Florida requires a permit to sell. Rules vary, so confirm state and city law first.
