The detail
The Winter White, or Djungarian, dwarf is a small hamster from Kazakhstan and Siberia whose coat can turn nearly white in winter under natural daylight. Many sold under the name are hybrids, so an owner should ask for a litter record.
- Best fit
- Adults, teens
- Handling
- 3 out of 5 (Calmer than most dwarfs)
- Care load
- 2 out of 5 (Daily food, spot-clean)
What to weigh
A short life and a small, quick body that is easy to drop. Pure Winter Whites are hard to confirm, and hybrids carry a higher diabetes risk.
