Bred in the Scottish Highlands to go to ground after foxes, badgers and vermin, the Scottie is a short-legged, sturdy terrier with a big-dog attitude. Dignified, independent and loyal to its family, it can be reserved with strangers and firm about its own ideas.

What to weigh
