The detail

Dominiques are considered America's oldest chicken breed, kept on farms since colonial times. They have barred feathers and a rose comb, and are hardy, calm dual-purpose birds that lay well and forage.

Egg output
4 out of 5 (Good steady layer)
Purpose
Eggs and meat
Best fit
Heritage flocks, homesteads
Hardiness
5 out of 5 (Rose comb, very hardy)

What to weigh

Dominiques are smaller than many dual-purpose breeds, so meat yield is modest.
