The detail

Medium-wool llamas sit between the classic and woolly types, with moderate fiber on the body and some on the neck and legs. They are all-round llamas kept for fiber, packing, guarding and as pets, and they suit most first-time owners.

Hardiness
4 out of 5 (Hardy, watch summer heat)
Origin
Andes of South America
Best fit
All-round small farm
Temperament
Calm, independent, alert

What to weigh

Most need yearly shearing to cope with summer heat. Llamas must never live alone, and bottle-raised intact males can develop berserk male syndrome.
