The detail

The longhaired Manx, sharing its round build, playful loyalty and tailless gene. Some registries treat it as a Manx coat variety. Buyers should weigh the same spinal risks as with the Manx before the look.

Origin
Isle of Man; developed in N. America
Best fit
Families, informed buyers
Temperament
Playful, loyal, social

What to weigh

The tailless gene can cause Manx syndrome, which affects the spine, legs, bladder and bowel. Signs usually show by four months, so buying an older kitten lowers the risk.
