The detail
Brangus were developed in the US by blending Angus with Brahman, three-eighths Brahman to five-eighths Angus. The goal was Angus beef with Brahman heat, insect and humidity tolerance for the Gulf Coast and South.
- Hardiness
- 5 out of 5 (Heat and insect tolerant)
- Origin
- United States
- Best fit
- Hot, humid regions
- Upkeep
- 2 out of 5 (Polled, low-fuss)
- Temperament
- Alert, can be flighty
What to weigh
The Brahman influence can bring a more reactive temperament and less cold tolerance. Good handling facilities matter more than with pure Angus.
