The detail
A sighthound from the mountains of Afghanistan, bred to chase game across rough terrain, the Afghan is fast, agile and dignified, with a long silky coat. Aloof with strangers and clownish with family, it needs daily running and hours of grooming each week.
What to weigh
Afghans chase anything that moves and rarely come when called. The coat mats quickly without several brushing sessions a week, and training takes patience.
