The detail
A straight-eared cat from Scottish Fold litters, sharing the round face, dense coat and gentle temperament. Without folded ears it does not carry the fold gene or its cartilage disease, which makes it the lower-risk choice.
What to weigh
Scottish Straights avoid the fold gene, but British and Persian outcrosses bring kidney and heart risks. Some breeders use them to produce more Folds.
