A straight-eared cat from Scottish Fold litters, sharing the round face, dense coat and gentle temperament. Without folded ears it does not carry the fold gene or its cartilage disease, which makes it the lower-risk choice.

Common questions
Does a Scottish Straight carry the fold gene?
No. The fold gene is dominant, so a cat with straight ears does not carry it. Ears fold at around three to four weeks, so buy after that to be sure.
What health tests should the parents have?
Ask for a PKD1 DNA result and heart screening for HCM on both parents. Check the kitten’s tail is flexible, a sign it did not inherit the fold gene.
Is a Scottish Straight a good first cat?
Yes. It shares the Fold’s calm, friendly nature without the joint disease risk. It adapts well to family and apartment life.
