The detail
Domestic pigeons descend from the rock dove and come in hundreds of breeds, from racing homers to fancy show breeds. They are gentle, long-lived and easy to keep in a well-built loft.
What to weigh
Pigeons produce dust and droppings, so lofts need regular cleaning. Homing breeds may fly home to their old loft.
