The detail
Texels come from the island of Texel in the Netherlands and are known for heavy muscling and lean meat. They are used mostly as terminal sires, adding muscle, yield and a leaner carcass to market lambs out of commercial ewes.

What to weigh
Heavy muscling can cause harder lambing, especially on smaller ewes. They are less common than Suffolks in the US.
