A Thai is loud and needs company. It shares the Siamese risks of inherited eye disease, amyloidosis and dental trouble.

Common questions

How is a Thai different from a Siamese?

Mostly in shape. The Thai keeps the traditional, moderate Siamese look. Temperament and care are the same. TICA recognizes it separately.

What health tests should the parents have?

Ask for a DNA result for rdAc progressive retinal atrophy on both parents, and about any family history of amyloidosis or asthma. Plan on regular dental care.

Can a Thai be left alone?

Not for long. Thai cats bond closely and get vocal or stressed when lonely. Two cats or a home with someone around is best.
