The tradeoffs, honestly
Curls trap hay, bedding and droppings, so the coat needs gentle combing, regular trims and a clean rear. Matting can hide sores and weight loss.

How do I groom the curls?
Work through the coat gently with fingers or a wide comb, a few minutes a day, and trim the rear and belly. Brushing too hard pulls the ringlets straight.
What health papers should I ask for?
Ask for a recent exam by a vet who sees guinea pigs, a clear fecal, and vet-confirmed sex, since young cavies are easy to mis-sex and sows can conceive within weeks of birth. A litter record naming both parents and the birth date is worth asking for too.
Should a pet Texel be kept in full coat?
No. Most pet Texels are trimmed shorter, which keeps the curl but cuts the grooming. Full coat is for the show table.
