What should I check before buying?
Ask whether it is captive-bred with a hatch record or imported, and for a clear fecal. Check for a full tail base, clear eyes and no soft jaw or swollen limbs, which can signal metabolic bone disease.
Is it legal where I live?
Uromastyx are CITES Appendix II, so an imported animal needs CITES paperwork, and Hawaii bars most non-native reptiles. Check your state and city rules first.
