Often, yes. Wheatens are friendly, playful and adaptable. Start training early to curb jumping, and plan for daily grooming.
What health problems do Wheatens have, and what should be tested?
Protein-losing nephropathy, protein-losing enteropathy, renal dysplasia and Addison's disease are the main concerns. Ask for a PLN DNA result on both parents, and plan yearly urine and blood tests as your dog ages.
Are Wheatens hypoallergenic?
They shed little, which some allergy sufferers tolerate, but no dog is allergen-free. Spend time with the breed before committing.
