A snowflake hedgehog has a high proportion of all-white quills mixed through its banded ones, giving a frosted look, with dark or ruby eyes. It is a pattern on top of a base color, and care is the same as any pygmy hedgehog.

Will the pattern change?
It can. Hoglets shed their baby quills during quilling, and the share of white quills may shift. Parent photos give the best guide to the adult look.
What health checks should I ask for?
Ask whether wobbly hedgehog syndrome, a progressive and fatal nerve disease, has appeared in the parents' lines, and for a litter record naming both parents. A vet exam and a check for mites are worth asking for as well.
Are hedgehogs legal where I live?
Not everywhere. California, Hawaii, Georgia, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia prohibit or tightly restrict them, New York City bans them, and Florida requires a permit to sell. Rules vary, so confirm state and city law first.
