The desert rosy boa comes from the Mojave and Sonoran deserts of California and Arizona, usually with orange, rust or tan stripes on a gray ground. It is calm, small and long-lived, and it shares the easy care of other rosy boas.

Common questions
How is it different from a Mexican rosy boa?
Mostly color and range: desert rosies tend to have orange or rust stripes on gray, while Mexican rosies have dark chocolate stripes on cream. Care is the same.
Are there permit rules for rosy boas?
Rosy boas are CITES Appendix II, like all boas, so international moves need permits. They are also California natives: selling captive-bred offspring in California needs a native reptile captive propagation permit (a placeholder rule that counsel is still confirming).
What health records should come with it?
Ask for a negative IBD PCR, a clear fecal and a feeding log on frozen-thawed mice. Rosy boas give live birth, so a birth record with the parents and locality confirms captive breeding.
