Reticulated gargoyle geckos show a net-like pattern of dark lines and blotches over a lighter base, close to the look many wild gargoyles carry. Gargoyles come from New Caledonia, are sturdier than cresteds and can regrow a dropped tail.

Are gargoyles legal to buy?
Gargoyle geckos were listed on CITES Appendix II in 2023. Captive-bred animals sold within a country are generally unaffected, but imports and exports need paperwork. Ask for the hatch record.
Can they live together?
Housing gargoyles together often leads to tail nipping and bites, especially among juveniles and males. Plan on housing one per enclosure unless you are breeding.
What health records should I ask for?
A hatch date, a steady weight log and a clear fecal or crypto test on the colony. A regrown tail is not a health problem, but ask why it was lost.
