Red Blotched
Gargoyle Gecko · 0 live listings
Red blotched gargoyle geckos carry red to rusty patches over a lighter base and sit among the most sought-after gargoyle lines. The red is line-bred and usually builds slowly, so an adult shows far more of it than a young juvenile does.
At a glance
The tradeoffs, honestly
Red color takes time and may not match the parents, so buying young is a bet. Gargoyles are sturdy but nippy, and cage mates often bite tails.
Common questions
Why is the baby not very red?
Red in gargoyles often develops over the first two years. A juvenile may look orange or brown at first. Parent photos as adults are the best guide.
Red blotched or orange blotched?
The line is a judgment call and lighting changes how red looks. Ask for photos in natural light, and do not rely on a label alone.
What should I check for health?
A hatch record, a weight log showing steady growth and a clear fecal or crypto test on the colony. Look for straight hips and no bite wounds.
Ask the seller for these. Documents on Everybarn are on file for your own checks; we don't check them with the issuer.
