Hatchlings are dull, so you are buying on the locality and parents rather than the colour you see. Like all chameleons they need a careful misting routine, and females can become egg-bound.

What does the locality mean?
It names the part of Madagascar the line came from, and each has typical male colours. Ask for photos of both parents, since mixed or unknown locality animals are common.
Captive-bred or imported?
Choose captive-bred with a hatch record. Imports are more stressed, often dehydrated and carry parasites. A healthy panther has open eyes, a firm grip, straight limbs and drinks readily.
Is it legal where I live?
Chameleons are CITES Appendix II, so an imported animal needs CITES paperwork, and Hawaii bars most non-native reptiles. Check your state and city rules first.
