Captive-bred or imported?

Most Oustalet's are commonly wild-caught imports. Look for captive-bred with a hatch record where you can; otherwise ask for a vet exam and a clear fecal, and watch for sunken eyes.

How much space does one need?

More than a standard chameleon cage. Many keepers use custom screen enclosures or a planted free-range area with good airflow and UVB coverage.

Is it legal where I live?

Chameleons are CITES Appendix II, so an imported animal needs CITES paperwork, and Hawaii bars most non-native reptiles. Check your state and city rules first.
