Murray Greys come from the Murray River valley in Australia, starting from grey calves out of a roan Shorthorn cow by Angus bulls. They are polled, silver to dun, very docile and known for efficient growth and marbled beef on grass.

Are Murray Greys good for grass-fed beef?
Yes. They were selected to finish on pasture, with moderate frames, easy calving and good marbling. That makes them a common choice for direct-market grass-fed programs.
What health tests should Murray Greys have?
Ask for a negative BVD-PI ear-notch test on every animal, a Johne's herd status, and a recent trich test on any breeding bull. Breeding stock crossing state lines also needs a health certificate and official ID.
How do I confirm a Murray Grey is purebred?
Ask for registration with the American Murray Grey Association and a pedigree. Crosses with Angus are common and can look similar, so papers and parentage matter if you plan to sell breeding stock.
