Meller's chameleon
Chameleon · 0 live listings
Meller's chameleon is the largest chameleon on the African mainland, a heavy-bodied species with a single small horn. It is sensitive to stress and is commonly a wild-caught import, so it suits keepers who already have chameleon experience.

The tradeoffs, honestly
Most available animals are imports, and imported Meller's often struggle with parasites and dehydration. Captive-bred ones are uncommon, so finding a good one takes patience.
Common questions
How do I avoid a sick import?
Ask whether it was captive-bred or wild-caught, and prefer a hatch record. For an import, ask for a vet exam and a clear fecal, and check for sunken eyes, a weak grip or mouth discoloration.
Does it need a large setup?
Yes. A heavy adult needs a large screen enclosure with dense foliage, strong airflow and a good drip or misting system for drinking.
Is it legal where I live?
Chameleons are CITES Appendix II, so an imported animal needs CITES paperwork, and Hawaii bars most non-native reptiles. Check your state and city rules first.
Ask the seller for these. Documents on Everybarn are on file for your own checks; we don't check them with the issuer.
