Lavender
Hognose Snake · 0 live listings
Lavender is a recessive western hognose morph with soft lavender, pink and pale gray tones in place of the usual browns and tans. A visual lavender needs two copies of the gene, and carriers look like ordinary normals.
At a glance
The tradeoffs, honestly
Color can shift as the snake grows, so a hatchling photo is not the adult look. As a recessive it takes planning and records to breed, and care is the same as any hognose.
Common questions
Can lavender be combined with other genes?
Yes. Breeders pair it with conda, arctic and others. Each added recessive gene lowers the share of visual babies, so ask for the full genetics and parent photos.
Does a lavender need different care?
No. Diet, setup and handling are the same as any hognose, and it has the same mild rear-fanged venom.
What health records should come with it?
Ask for a clear fecal and a negative crypto PCR, plus a dated feeding log showing several meals on unscented frozen-thawed mice. A hatch record with the clutch date and both parents ties the snake to its genetics.
What health tests should a Lavender hognose snake have?
Ask for Fecal exam clear, Cryptosporidium PCR negative, Exotics vet exam on file, Genetics report for het claims, Hatch or birth record on file and Photo ID on file.
