Jackson's chameleon
Chameleon · 0 live listings
Jackson's chameleon is an East African highland species; males carry three horns and females bear live young instead of laying eggs. It likes cooler, more humid conditions than a veiled or panther, and overheating is the common mistake.

The tradeoffs, honestly
Summer heat can be the hardest part, since this species struggles when the room gets warm. Pregnant females need a quiet setup and a plan for the babies.
Common questions
Do they need special temperatures?
Yes. They want a cooler range than most chameleons, with a night drop, and do poorly in a hot room. Plan for summer cooling before you buy.
How do I check it is healthy?
Look for open, active eyes, a strong grip and no sunken eye sockets, which suggest dehydration. Ask whether it was captive-bred, with a birth record, rather than imported.
Is it legal where I live?
Chameleons are CITES Appendix II, so an imported animal needs CITES paperwork, and Hawaii bars most non-native reptiles. Check your state and city rules first.
Ask the seller for these. Documents on Everybarn are on file for your own checks; we don't check them with the issuer.
