Rarely. JRTs are funny and affectionate but high-energy, vocal and stubborn. They suit owners who enjoy training, dog sports or earthdog work.
What health problems do Jack Russells have, and what should be tested?
Primary lens luxation, deafness, luxating kneecaps, Legg-Calve-Perthes disease and inherited ataxia occur. Ask for a BAER hearing test, a recent eye exam, a patella check and DNA results for PLL and ataxia on both parents.
What is the difference between a Jack Russell and a Parson Russell?
Both descend from the same working terriers. The Parson is taller and square, while the Jack Russell or Russell Terrier is shorter-legged. Registries differ, so check which the parents belong to.
