Albino
Iguana · 0 live listings
The albino iguana carries a recessive gene that removes black pigment, leaving a pale yellow, orange or white animal with light eyes. Care, diet and adult size are the same as any green iguana, and hets look normal.
At a glance
The tradeoffs, honestly
A large, long-lived lizard whatever the colour. Recessive genetics make het claims hard to check.
Common questions
Is it legal where I live?
Florida added green iguanas, every colour morph included, to its prohibited list in 2021, and Hawaii bars them along with most non-native reptiles. They are CITES Appendix II. Check your state and city rules first.
What does "het albino" mean?
The iguana carries one hidden albino gene and looks normal. Two hets can produce albinos. Ask for breeding records or a proven pairing.
What health records should I ask for?
A hatch record, a weight log, and for an older animal a PIT tag and vet exam. Check for clear eyes and firm jaws.
Ask the seller for these. Documents on Everybarn are on file for your own checks; we don't check them with the issuer.
