Common questions
How is an albino different from a white snowflake?
An albino has red eyes and no pigment anywhere. A very white snowflake or pinto usually has dark or ruby eyes and some colored quills.
What health checks should I ask for?
Ask whether wobbly hedgehog syndrome, a progressive and fatal nerve disease, has appeared in the parents' lines, and for a litter record naming both parents. A vet exam and a check for mites are worth asking for as well.
Are hedgehogs legal where I live?
Not everywhere. California, Hawaii, Georgia, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia prohibit or tightly restrict them, New York City bans them, and Florida requires a permit to sell. Rules vary, so confirm state and city law first.
