Lilac
Gerbil · 0 live listings
Lilac gerbils have a soft, even gray coat with red eyes, a diluted form of the solid black gerbil. It is a color only, so a lilac needs the same same-sex pair, glass tank and deep digging bedding as any gerbil.

The tradeoffs, honestly
Lilac, dove and other pale grays are easy to confuse, so names vary between breeders. Red-eyed gerbils may startle more easily; care otherwise matches any gerbil.
Common questions
How is lilac different from dove?
Both are red-eyed grays. Lilac is a deeper, even gray, while dove is paler and more silvery. They can look similar as babies, so ask to see the parents.
What health checks should a gerbil have?
Ask whether the line has a history of seizures: many gerbils have stress-triggered epilepsy, and some lines are more prone. Check the tail is whole (never lift a gerbil by it, as the skin can slip off), and ask for vet-confirmed sex and a litter record.
Are gerbils legal everywhere?
No. Gerbils are prohibited in California and Hawaii because escaped animals could establish wild populations. Rules vary, so check state and city law before you buy.
Ask the seller for these. Documents on Everybarn are on file for your own checks; we don't check them with the issuer.
