The four-horned chameleon is a montane species from the Cameroon highlands; males carry two to six horns and a tall sail on the back. It needs cool, very humid conditions and is commonly a wild-caught import rather than captive-bred.

Captive-bred or imported?
Most four-horned chameleons are wild-caught imports. Prefer captive-bred with a hatch record; for an import, ask for a clear fecal and a vet exam and check for sunken eyes and a weak grip.
What temperatures does it need?
Cool days and cooler nights, with high humidity and good airflow. A warm room is a problem, so plan cooling before buying.
Is it legal where I live?
Chameleons are CITES Appendix II, so an imported animal needs CITES paperwork, and Hawaii bars most non-native reptiles. Check your state and city rules first.
