Finnsheep, or Finnish Landrace, are a northern short-tailed breed from Finland known for large litters, with triplets and quadruplets common. They are small and fine-boned, and are often crossed to raise lambing rates in other flocks.

The tradeoffs, honestly
Big litters mean small lambs, more bottle feeding and ewes that need excellent nutrition in late pregnancy. Purebreds are lighter-muscled than meat breeds.
Common questions
How many lambs do Finnsheep have?
Litters of three or four are common, and larger litters happen. Many breeders cross Finns with meat breeds to get more lambs without the extreme litter size.
What health tests should they have?
Ask for OPP, CL and Johne's results for the flock, and check that each sheep carries official scrapie ID. Codon 171 scrapie genotype (RR is resistant) is worth asking for on breeding rams.
Is Finnsheep wool good for spinning?
Yes. It is fine to medium, soft and lustrous, and takes dye well. Finns come in white and several colors.
