Cinnamon
Ferret · 0 live listings
Cinnamon is an uncommon ferret color with reddish-brown guard hairs, a light undercoat, a pink or brick nose and often ruby eyes. It is a color only, so care and health are the same as any other ferret.
At a glance
The tradeoffs, honestly
A true cinnamon is harder to find and often confused with champagne. Ownership costs are those of any ferret: time, space and later vet care.
Common questions
How can I tell cinnamon from champagne?
Cinnamon guard hairs have a warmer red tone; champagne is lighter and tan. Kits are hard to call, so look at the parents or an adult coat.
What health papers should I ask for?
Ask for canine distemper and rabies vaccination records, a vet exam, and whether the ferret is spayed or neutered. Ask about the parents too: adrenal disease and insulinoma are common in middle-aged ferrets, so plan for vet care later in life.
Are ferrets legal where I live?
Not everywhere. California and Hawaii prohibit pet ferrets, Rhode Island requires a permit, and New York City bans them inside the five boroughs. Rules vary and change, so confirm your state and city law before you buy.
