Endler's livebearers are tiny, brightly colored relatives of the guppy from coastal lagoons in Venezuela. They are hardy, peaceful and breed readily, which makes them a great choice for small planted tanks and nano setups.

Endlers breed constantly, so a tank can fill quickly. They also cross freely with guppies, and many sold as Endlers are hybrids.

Are these pure Endlers or hybrids?
Ask whether the line is class N, meaning traceable to wild-caught stock and kept pure. Hybrids with guppies are common and fine as pets, but not for pure breeding.
How do I control breeding?
Keep males only, or add plants for fry cover and plan where the extras will go. A tank with both sexes will breed constantly.
What should I check before buying, and should I quarantine?
Look for bright color, clean fins and active feeding. Avoid fish with clamped fins or white spots, and quarantine new fish for two to four weeks.
