Are carpet pythons CITES listed?
Yes. Like all pythons they are CITES Appendix II, so international moves need permits. Australia does not export its native wildlife for the pet trade, so Australian carpets kept abroad come from captive-bred lines.
Which health tests matter for a carpet python?
Ask for negative IBD and nidovirus PCR results, a clear fecal and a feeding log on frozen-thawed rodents. A hatch record with the parents, and a PIT tag or microchip number where used, ties the snake to its paperwork.
