Pinstripe
Crested Gecko · 0 live listings
Pinstripe crested geckos have raised cream scales running in a line along each side of the back, like a pair of stripes. Full pinstripes run unbroken from neck to tail base, while partial pinstripes break up, and both can combine with harlequin or flame.
At a glance
The tradeoffs, honestly
Pinstripe is line-bred, and a full, unbroken stripe is far less common than a partial. Care is identical to any crested, including permanent tail loss if the gecko is grabbed.
Common questions
What is the difference between full and partial pinstripe?
A full pinstripe has an unbroken line of raised cream scales on both sides of the back. A partial has gaps. Look closely at photos taken from above.
Is pinstripe a gene?
It is treated as a polygenic, line-bred trait. Pinstripe parents raise the odds of pinstripe babies but do not guarantee them.
What health records should I ask for?
A hatch date, a weight log and whether the tail is original, since cresteds cannot regrow a dropped tail. Ask whether the colony has had a clear fecal or a crypto test.
