Harlequin crested geckos carry cream or light patterning that runs from the back down the sides and onto the legs, over a darker base. It is a line-bred step up from the flame and one of the most popular looks for display and breeding.

How much lateral pattern a harlequin shows can change as it matures, and offspring vary because the trait is polygenic. Care is simple, but expect a 15-to-20-year commitment.

Will the pattern change as it grows?
It can. Juveniles often show more or less lateral pattern as they mature, so ask for recent photos fired up, not just hatchling shots.
Is harlequin a gene?
No. It is a line-bred, polygenic look, so pairing two harlequins improves the odds of harlequin babies but does not guarantee them.
What health records should I ask for?
A hatch date, a weight log and whether the tail is original, since tail loss is permanent in cresteds. A clear fecal or crypto test on the colony adds confidence.
