Dalmatian crested geckos carry dark, and sometimes red or white, spots scattered across the body. The number of spots varies from a few to a heavy covering, often called super dalmatian, and spotting can be added to almost any other look.

Spot count varies widely and cannot be predicted from the parents with any precision. Spots may increase as the gecko matures, so a lightly spotted baby may change.

What is a super dalmatian?
A breeder term for a crested with heavy spotting across most of the body. It is a description, not a separate gene, so expect labels to vary.
Do spots increase with age?
Often they do, especially in the first year or two. Ask for recent photos, and for photos of the parents as adults.
What should I check for health?
A steady weight log, straight hips and a full tail base. Ask whether the original tail is intact, since tail loss is permanent in cresteds, and whether the colony has had a clear fecal.
