The Coronet is a long-haired guinea pig with a single crest, or rosette, on the forehead, and a coat that sweeps back like a Silkie's. It is gentle and attractive but carries the full grooming load of any long-haired cavy.

What is the crest?
A single rosette on the forehead where the hair radiates out. It needs a light brush but should never be cut.
What health papers should I ask for?
Ask for a recent exam by a vet who sees guinea pigs, a clear fecal, and vet-confirmed sex, since young cavies are easy to mis-sex and sows can conceive within weeks of birth. A litter record naming both parents and the birth date is worth asking for too.
Can a Coronet live with a short-haired guinea pig?
Yes. Coat type does not affect friendship. A short-haired companion may chew a long coat, so watch for barbering.
