The coastal carpet python is the largest carpet python commonly kept, from the eastern coast of Australia, with a variable brown, olive and cream pattern. It is a strong feeder and the base stock for several morphs, including jaguar.

How big does it get?
Most adults are 6 to 9 feet, and females are usually larger and heavier than males. Plan the adult enclosure before you buy.
Are carpet pythons CITES listed?
Yes. Like all pythons they are CITES Appendix II, so international moves need permits. Australia does not export its native wildlife for the pet trade, so Australian carpets kept abroad come from captive-bred lines.
Which health tests matter for a carpet python?
Ask for negative IBD and nidovirus PCR results, a clear fecal and a feeding log on frozen-thawed rodents. A hatch record with the parents, and a PIT tag or microchip number where used, ties the snake to its paperwork.
