The Vizsla

A Hungarian pointer and retriever bred to work close to the hunter, which is why it is famously attached to its people. Gentle, sensitive and athletic, it needs hard daily exercise and a lot of company, and does poorly left alone.

Vizslas are velcro dogs: they want to be with you constantly and can develop separation anxiety. Add high energy and a thin coat that does not like cold, and they suit active people who are home a lot.

The Weimaraner

A German hunting dog bred for nobility to track large game and later birds, giving it speed, stamina and a strong will. Elegant and deeply attached to its people, the Weimaraner needs an experienced, active owner and a lot of daily exercise.

Weimaraners are big, fast and clever enough to get into trouble, and many struggle when left alone. They need structure, hard exercise and a secure fence, and a large deep chest brings bloat risk.
