The detail
Angora goats come from the Ankara region of Turkey and grow mohair, a lustrous, curly fiber. They are shorn twice a year and are kept by fiber artists and producers who want a steady supply of fleece.
- Temperament
- Gentle, quiet
- Best fit
- Fiber farms, spinners
- Energy
- 2 out of 5 (Calm, less active)
- Hardiness
- 2 out of 5 (Cold after shearing)
What to weigh
Angoras are less hardy than other goats, especially right after shearing, when a cold rain can kill them. Fleece needs care to stay clean and free of hay.
