The detail
The normal leopard gecko is the wild-type form of a ground-dwelling gecko from Afghanistan, Pakistan, northwest India and Iran. It is small, calm and hardy, with modest setup needs, which makes it a top first reptile.

- Handling
- 4 out of 5 (Tolerant, can be jumpy young)
- Setup complexity
- 2 out of 5 (Modest, no big humidity)
- Feeding ease
- 3 out of 5 (Live insects only)
What to weigh
Leopard geckos eat only live insects, so you will keep crickets or roaches. They live up to 20 years, longer than many expect.
