Buyer question
Is a Blaze good for beginners?
Usually not: our Animal Library rates the Blaze 2 out of 5 for beginners (better with experience).

The detail
Blaze ferrets have a white stripe from the forehead down the neck, and pandas have a fully white head. The white-marking genes behind both are linked to a Waardenburg-type deafness, so an owner should expect some blazes and pandas to be deaf.

What to weigh
Deafness is common in these patterns, which can mean startle bites and training by touch. Many are also born with a slightly domed head or low-set ears.
