The detail
A German breed developed from bull-baiting mastiffs into a guard and companion, the Boxer is playful, muscular and famously clownish. Devoted to children and family, it stays puppyish for years and needs daily exercise and patient training.
- Best fit
- Active families with kids
- Temperament
- Playful, loyal, bouncy
What to weigh
Boxers jump, drool and snore, and they mature slowly. Their short muzzle makes them sensitive to heat. The breed carries significant heart disease and cancer risk.
