The detail
A spotted, athletic breed developed in the US from crosses between domestic cats and the Asian leopard cat. It looks wild and acts busy: climbing, fetching and playing with water, and it needs daily outlets for that energy.

- United States, 1970s–80s
- Best fit
- Active, hands-on owners
- Temperament
- Energetic, bold, curious
What to weigh
A bored Bengal opens cupboards, knocks things down and can become vocal or destructive. Plan for tall climbing space, puzzle feeders and daily active play for its whole life.
