The detail
A flushing spaniel bred to spring game birds from cover for the gun, so it is built for long days of busy, nose-down work. Cheerful, people-focused and eager, it suits an active family that wants a biddable dog with a bit more coat than a Lab.
What to weigh
Springers need a lot of exercise and company; left alone they bark, chew and fret. The feathered coat and long ears collect burrs and moisture, so ear care and regular brushing are part of the deal.
