The detail
An umbrella for European sport-horse studbooks, such as Dutch Warmblood, Oldenburg and Holsteiner, bred by selecting for movement, jump and rideability. They dominate dressage and jumping, and approval and papers vary by studbook.
- Build
- Tall, athletic, uphill
What to weigh
Warmbloods are large, costly to feed and shoe, and prone to joint issues such as OCD. Temperament varies widely between lines, so ride the individual horse, not the label.
