The detail

An English draft horse from Suffolk, always chestnut, compact and clean-legged, bred for farm work on heavy clay. Suffolks are calm, hardy and easy to keep, and the breed is critically rare.

What to weigh

Suffolks are very rare, so breeding choices are limited and inbreeding needs watching. As easy keepers they gain weight quickly.
